Here are the presentations by
Speakers and Talks
- James Heitsch, Illinois Univ..
Index theory for foliations
We shall first outline the K-theory approach to the longitudinal
index formula for foliations and explain the GRR theorem obtained
using the Chern character in Haefliger cohomology.
We shall also describe a differential geometry proof
of the homotopy invariance of the higher harmonic signature.
This is joint work with Moulay-Tahar Benameur, Metz.
- Gilles Carron, Nantes.
Around ellipticity of boundary conditions.
This is a joint work with W. Ballmann and J. Brüning. We will
re-introduce the notion of regular and elliptic boundary condition
in a new frameworks which avoids the pseudo differential calculus and
can be used in a context of lack of smoothness.
- Victor Nistor,
Penn State University.
From analysis on non-compact manifolds to boundary value problems on
polyhedral domains.
I will present the geometric and analytic properties of a class
of complete Riemannian manifolds (called "Lie manifolds") that
was introduced in a joint work with Ammann and Lauter. Then, I
will present some applications to boundary
value problems on polyhedral domains. I will also briefly
explore other applications as well as some connections with
C*-algebras and, especially, Lie groupoids. See the other talks,
especially the ones of of Benameur and Carron, for more on these subjects.
My lecture will be, in part, a shortened version of my lecture at IHP,
which you can read if you click
on this link.
-
Paolo Piazza, Rome.
Index theory, bordism and rho-invariants
Index theory on Galois coverings and cylindrical manifolds, higher
index theory, bordism, rho-invariants and the Baum-Connes conjecture,
fundamental groups with torsion. The detailed list is
here.
- Thomas Schick, Göttingen.
Index theory and positive scalar curvature.
Atiyah-Singer index theorem and obstructions to positive scalar curvature,
C*-algebras and their K-theory,
spin bordism and K-homology, Baum-Connes conjecture, stable and unstable
Gromov-Lawson-Rosenberg conjecture,
enlargeability and codimension 2 obstuctions to positive scalar curvature
Schedule and Lecture Room
The school will start on Monday, March 16, 9 am.
The school will end on Friday, March 20, around 5.30 pm (17:30)
The schedule can be obtained here.
All talks are on the University campus, in the mathematics building,
M104.
See here for German instructions how to get to the
campus or just ask in the hotel.
